IBS 2024 is in The Books – What Were Your Biggest Takeaways?

Wow – IBS 2024 whooshed pat in a whirlwind, and if you were one of over 76,000 building industry professionals who attended IBS…Congratulations! Not only are you looking at trends, materials, walking the convention floor for tips, ideas, and innovation – you may have also attended some of the education, networking events, and engaged with professionals across all walks of life in the new home building industry.

From trade partners, to consultants, to clients, to friends – It’s impossible to see and do everything, and we each have our own little sliver of what the building show means to us.

For me, here at Blue Gypsy Inc. it was:

  • Presenting three different educational programs I had the privilege to collaborate on with amazing intelligent friends and collogues in the industry.
    • Punch List: Overcoming 16 Lead-Killing Mistakes Builders Make with Their Websites
    • Jam(b) Session: Engage & Keep Prospects Happy Top of Funnel to Bottom
    • Networking 101: Learn the Value Of Relationships Over Transactions

  • Watching two hardworking Online Sales Counselors who I’ve had the pleasure of training in the past, go up for two of the most prestigious awards in the OSC world – National Rookie of the Year and National Online Sales Counselor of the Year.
    • Congratulations to Felicia Bitter at Viera Builders in Florida as a Silver winner for Rookie of the Year.
    • Congratulations to Terrell Turner of Epcon Communities for winning Gold for National Online Sales Counselor of the Year!

  • Participating in Sales Central as a first-time sponsor and providing coffee and conversation in between the amazing learning opportunities that the Sales and Marketing Council provided within their lounge.
    • Thanks to my friends at Outhouse for inviting me to share this honor.
    • Coffee and connections are some of my favorite things!

  • Finishing my term after four years on the National Board of the NAHB Sales and Marketing Council.
    • Past Chair of the Communications sub-committee
    • Past Chair of the Membership sub-committee

  • Completing my role as the Chair for Professional Development with an incredible team at the NAHB Professional Women in Building Council.
    • Our team created some of the most engaging Shop Talks at NAHB in 2023
    • Our team proudly initiated great educational opportunities at Professional Women in Building Head Quarters (PWBHQ) at IBS.

  • Cheering on many of my friends in the industry as they presented their own educational programs, some for the first time on the national stage.
    • Too many people to shout out here, but if you didn’t attend IBS or you did make sure to keep an eye out for the replays.
    • Some observations were that anything that mentioned AI or ChatGPT in the title had lines out the door!

  • Catching up with some of my dear friends in the industry and making new friends.
    • Attending multiple networking parties full of people and energy.
    • Sitting down for some more intimate dinners with fewer people and diving deeper into personal and professional highlights.

  • Hugging past and present clients and talking with future clients as we all figure out what 2024 has in store.

If you missed me in the craziness that is the builder’s show, or if we connected and you’d like to talk more about future collaborations, conversations, or programs I’m here to help. Please feel free to click on my calendar link and let’s connect. Sometimes it’s crazy in the crush of 76,000 people coming together for 3 fast days, that’s why a virtual cup of coffee or glass of wine may be a better way to go.
